Inspiration

Memoriae in Latin it means Event, News or Memoria.The original idea of Memoriae was to create a system to leave anonymous thoughts and suggestions all over the world and leave them there forever.

Anyone passing through a specific area could be able to read other people's messages and the history of the place built by its visitors.To do this, we divided the world into 68 billion polygons and each polygon can read or write messages. We created a Backoffice program that can push textual information and links drawing the area on a map.With covid emergency we think that it is necessary to use a direct and open source communication system. So we decided to rebuild our application to help people and institution with the new challenges of this situation. Our new asset will help public administrations that will use Memoriae to keep the community informed with the latest news that are relevant for them, such as local ordinances, updates concerning work and school, information of public utility and also alerts.

What it does

During this emergency, Memoriae will allow public administrations, hospitals and others to communicate easily with citizens through the backoffice and the mobile app. The system is opensource and users are anonymous compliant with the GDPR.Memoriae has two different type of users: anonymous one that are simple citizens, and authenticated and verified users that are the local authorities and business. Memoriae, infact, offers specific tools to reach these objectives.

Mobile App : A dedicated IOS and Android app will share communications from institutions and private business and will allow people to leave their thoughts in the place they are.

Backoffice Web: A dedicated platform where institutions and private business can send their messages choosing the area they want to reach, drawing it on the map or choosing it by name (a city, a nation, a specific area). Backoffice platform needs authentication from users.

APIs: Memoriae team will release API-REST technology for CRM or complex systems integration.

How we built it

Our team created an algorithm that, based on the GPS location, discretizes the earth's surface in square polygons. This discretization will allow us to manage information all over the world and differentiate them. We created a non-relational database which allows us to keep costs low and a system without continuous user tracking. The project architecture allows Memoriae to be fully scalable.

We developed the first version of the project without external funds except the commitment and resources of the team who believed in the project, working on an accurate algorithm to create a customizable cell system.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Memoriae App and backoffice are a solid software architecture giving the possibility to help people to express their thoughts related to the place with accuracy and keeping the information resilient. This particular feature allows people (and now public institutions too) to create a real direct interconnection system, without intermediary.

What's next for memoriae zero

Memoriae zero is available only in Italy. The new version is currently under development. We are currently building a pilot project to test the app with a large number of users with new needs due to the coronavirus emergency: having the public institutions using the app, will help the sharing of information and news among society. With memoriae the communication will finally be trusted, direct, safe, and fast. If we aim to spread the use of memoriae around, this app will keep on aggregating relevant data for the users around the world, making them available for people wherever they are, whenever they are. That means that memoriae is glocal: even though you are located in your grid, you will always be connected to a bigger and connected world!
