Track 2: Travel

The Problem

Memo tackles what we believe to be the two most important parts of a trip: preparations and records. From a tourist’s perspective, it can be hard to figure out how best to plan a trip to a new place, like finding out the best restaurants, leisure activities, and hangout spots. After the trip is over, sometimes all you really have are the handful of photos that you’ve taken—nice to have, but often lost in a drive or dusty drawer. From a local’s perspective, it can be really annoying to see some of the best parts of your city be ignored in preference for the tourist traps—and there’s very little ways out there to promote them. There is a distinct lack of platforms for locals and tourists to interact and share their experiences—and this is where Memo comes in.

How Memo Works

Memo provides users with a platform that allows them to see what other tourists found fun and what locals recommend. Here, they can view moodboards, a gallery that highlights other people’s trips to a certain location, and some insights from locals on what the best places to visit are. It also provides a place to give back to the community—via a moodboard of your own—and personally document your trip through journaling. It’s a 2-in-1 solution that we hope people—travelers or not—everywhere can enjoy.
