Mission Statement

love2sign4you promotes access to information and communication by providing a simple, accessible and trusted platform that offers sign language translation as a service over the public internet

Inspiration

Access to information and communication is essential to all humans. Challenging times like this only further highlight this fact. This project aims to build a platform that promotes access to information and communications by providing a simple, accessible, and trusted platform that offers sign language translation as a service over the public internet.

The goal of this platform is to minimize communicative barriers, strengthen equality of opportunity and to eliminate obstacles - following the spirit of the Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

What is the problem

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it got increasingly difficult for people of the deaf community to find an appropriate sign language translator to translate for them. Especially in situations of everyday life. Social distancing, remote-working, and lockdown measurements further complicate the problem. Adding to all this, there is already a severe shortage of available qualified translators. This is why smart scheduling and utilization of the available translators are important! Many of these translators find themself at home and are therefore potentially available for remote translation.

This is where love2sign4you could be of use.

What it does

love2sign4you connects people in need of a translator with registered members of the community that can translate sign language into spoken language and vice versa.
