Locavore

Inspiration

Old-fashioned and nostalgic punchcards — the original "rewards system" where users got a hole punched in a card each time they ordered something, and could get a free gift with enough punches! We bring punchcards into the digital age and let users and businesses aggregate them in a free, accessible, and cozy platform.

What it does

Locavore manages multiple rewards systems for users and businesses all at once. Multiple small businesses in a community sign onto Locavore, then, when users make purchases/orders, they get a punch! With enough punches, users can redeem items for free in person!

How we built it

We prototyped in Figma, created graphics in Adobe Illustrator, built a frontend in React, and built a backend with PostgresQL and Prisma.

Challenges we ran into

We ultimately weren't able to integrate our backend and our frontend, running into a wall when we tried to implement a Rest API.

Our first hackathon!!!!

What we learned

We dove into a new stack and prototyped from the ground up, working through the whole development process.

What's next for Locavore

Fixing up our backend and then piloting in our hometowns!!! <3
