The adoption of cryptocurrency has growing at a global rate. This has made the need for crypto management a necessity. We wanted to create an app to make it easy for newcomers to easily understand, manage, and use cryptocurrency.
What it does
The purpose of this app is to enable the user to easily access and manage their crypto currencies all in one place. Our mobile app allows the user to login or create an account, add to their portfolio, see their existing portfolio, and search other crypto currencies.
How we built it
For this project, the technologies we utilized were Android Studios, Coin Routes API, Kotlin, GitHub, Adobe Illustrator, and Figma.
Challenges we ran into
While working on the project some of the problems we faced was collaborating with each other while using android studio and GitHub making sure our changes were persistent and manageable. Coin Routs API proved to be difficult since we only had the documentation to base our research on. We took the time to mock up our entire project in Figma making it easier to create the actives and fragments as we continued our project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of our teamwork and ability to keep each other motivated throughout the entire project. It was a great experience that we all learned a lot from, making this year's Shell Hacks truly memorable.
What we learned
We learned how to use the Coin Routes API and how to integrate it with a mobile app using Android Studio. Also, this was a first mobile app for the majority of our team so we all felt as if we truly grew as mobile developers in this hackathon.
What's next for Local Coin
Some of the next features we would like to add to the app is a visualization tool to help the user to easily visualize the coin, totals, and more! We would also like to allow the user to make transactions through our app.
