Inspiration
In this new "Study from home" environment, we feel that kids need to have a content that is engaging and at the same time help them learning new concepts.
What it does
The level 1 of this game, players arrange the planet to their correct position in the solar system. This level helps them with understanding names of the planets, their sizes in proportion with each other and unique characteristics of each planet. Level 2 is a connect the dot challenge with the original intent on developing children's ability to count and knowledge of astronomy, however the number's were not allocated in a reasonable time
How we built it
Tonia: Developed in C++ with SDL2. Bharati: Designed with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
Challenges we ran into
Time constraints.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating an entire game based around mouse events, which is definitely a big tech step forward and makes this project portable to touchscreen devices like smartphones and tablets.
What we learned
Bharati: Being my first Game Design experience, I learned a TON. From how to design game elements to how to prepare the graphics for production. Tonia: Organizing runtime objects into collections makes cleanup and deallocating resource safer and easier.
What's next for Little Astronaut
Hopefully, porting it to mobile!
