Inspiration
LEZGO was inspired by the common challenges cyclists face when navigating during rides, such as distractions from stopping to check maps or fiddling with devices. We wanted to create a solution that allows cyclists to focus on the road while seamlessly integrating navigation into their experience.
What it does
LEZGO is an innovative AR-based navigation app for cyclists that provides hands-free, in-sight guidance through augmented reality overlays. With real-time GPS tracking and voice activation, cyclists can receive navigation instructions without taking their hands off the handlebars or eyes off the road. The app is designed for both urban streets and adventurous trails, enhancing safety, convenience, and exploration.
How we built it
We combined cutting-edge AR technology, GPS-based location tracking, and voice recognition to build LEZGO. The app was developed with a focus on user-friendly interaction and safety, integrating AR overlays for real-time navigation and a voice-activated system that responds to the command "Lezgo."
Challenges we ran into
One of the challenges we faced during development was integrating with the Spectacles device and Lens Studio. We encountered issues with the Spectacles not being recognized by the API, which impacted the functionality of our app. We had to find a workaround by modifying the User-Agent string to mimic a MacBook, allowing the device to be correctly identified and work as intended.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of creating an app that significantly improves cyclists' navigation experience, allowing them to stay focused and safe while riding. LEZGO’s integration of AR and voice commands sets it apart in the cycling app market. The workaround we implemented to resolve the Spectacles API recognition issue was also a significant achievement, improving our integration with wearable tech.
What we learned
We learned a lot about the complexities of integrating AR, GPS, and voice technology into a single app. Additionally, our experience with the Spectacles API taught us how important it is to ensure compatibility across devices and platforms. We also gained valuable insights into optimizing user experience for cyclists through intuitive, hands-free features.
What's next for LEZGO
Next, we plan to enhance LEZGO by improving device compatibility, expanding our app’s functionality for different cycling environments, and adding more advanced features like real-time traffic updates and community-sharing options. We also look forward to collaborating with other AR and wearable tech companies to push the boundaries of cycling navigation.
