Inspiration
We researched African motifs, Art Deco, the Vision theater, and the history of Leimert Park. The colors, patterns, and cultural activities at Leimert Park really inspired us.
What it does
To ensure that Leimert Park merchants can continue to operate their Al Fresco area without endangering the health of the community or allowing for undesirable consequences.
How we built it
We decided to portrait four iconic characters that we found in Leimert Park's activities. They are dancers, musicians, book lovers, and merchants. Ben illustrated these four characters in Procreate. Char and Christy designed two sets of patterns in Adobe illustrator.
Challenges we ran into
How to work collaboratively and simultaneously in Adobe illustrator. Therefore, we grouped different types of signages and tasks to make sure our works don't overlap.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The signages are cohesive and Benny's illustrations are vivid!
What we learned
Time management and team collaboration. We mapped out a week-long plan in the beginning to help us keep in on schedule.
What's next for Leimert Park Signages
Refine the design by strengthening the personality of the characters and adding cars and stores for the signages specifically for street parking and businesses.
