Inspiration
To introduce biodiversity to the local community, the design of data-based technology is done with a fun concept. This is based on the experience of curiosity possessed by children, especially in the Ujung Kulon National Park environment. So this phenomenon can support the national park to implement the pillars of conservation in collaboration with local communities. Collaboration that is instilled from an early age can be a simple step through the introduction of diversity in Ujung Kulon National Park along with information on the distribution of species in Indonesia. Species distribution can be supported with simple GIS features.
What it does
The JelajahKU app is a guide that presents complete information about Ujung Kulon National Park. Information is presented through simple animations and interpretations that children can easily understand with the concepts that have been designed. Users can learn about biodiversity, get a jungle survival guide, and get the latest news related to Ujung Kulon National Park. The JelajahKU app also engages users in the importance of nature conservation and ongoing conservation efforts. This makes it a simple app that is ideal for local conservation media.
How we built it
JelajahKU was designed using data integrated with monitoring and inventory activities by the Ujung Kulon National Park team. The guide we have attempted to design is easily accessible and understandable by children with easy species distribution mapping. Thus, the necessary programs and databases are key to this development.
Challenges we ran into
JelajahKU became our first idea for app development. As beginners who are unfamiliar with frameworks and programming languages, we were still confused in determining the correct programming language that suits our framework and concept.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
JelajahKU can be a medium for early conservation education that can be instilled to raise awareness of the importance of preserving biodiversity in our environment, especially in the conservation areas around us. JelajahKU can provide key values and guidance in simply recognizing biodiversity.
What we learned
While technology is developing rapidly, the conservation field has yet to maximize the use of technology in biodiversity conservation efforts. As we know, technology can be accessed anywhere and anytime even by anyone so massive information dissemination can increase high awareness in the community. Therefore, becoming an adaptive generation amidst the challenges of rapid technological development needs to be instilled from an early age.
What's next for JelajahKU
Integration and selection of the right programming language needs to be designed so that our concept can be realized and supporting features can run well in accordance with our goals and values.
