Inspiration

Investing has always seemed like something reserved for experts, filled with overwhelming charts and complex strategies. Knowing how to invest your money is something everyone should have access to, especially in today's world where rising inflation and economic uncertainty make financial literacy more important than ever. We saw how many people, especially beginners (our friends), struggle to understand the stock market and feel intimidated by the learning process. With so much information available online on various platforms, it's hard to find a place to start. This is why we built InvestMe.

What it does

InvestMe is a platform that incorporates all of your needs for investing and optimizes workflow. Users can interact with others, trade, chart and learn all in one website fostering new connections and learning experiences. Users can access their investment portfolios to see all of their shares. They are able to see their portfolio in real time so they are able to scroll through their feed, read news affecting stocks all while being able to trade. Within InvestMe there is an AI Assistant that works in users post to analyze sentiment and also in a page called the Learning Center where beginners can learn about options and trading strategies. Besides that, users will be able to post videos and pictures and reply to others on InvestMe.

How we built it

Front-end: React, Html, Css, JS Back-end: MongoDB, Firebase API's: Finnhub(Stocks), OpenAI models

Challenges we ran into

Understanding which technologies to use. We didnt know that MongoDB wasn't the best at storing user post images and videos. This lead us to add firebase to our project.
