Inspiration

Having grown up in a family that was in the car business there was a sense of familiarity in this challenge. We decided to tackle a problem that was faced and is consistently faced by many dealerships accross the world. There were instances where a client would be looking for a specific car but that car was not available or in stock at a dealership. The dealer would then settle on either calling their local dealers to find and cooperate on the sale or they would lose their lead and they would move on. This is where the idea of an efficient, predictive, accessible dealer exchange system was born. No longer would this process be painful and inaccessible, the inventory would be accessible by all, for the right price.

What it does

The platforms goal is providing an automated dealership inventory exchange solution to increase inventory turnover and facilitate sales. The dealer would have a lead, a client would request a car, the dealer would seek out and find that car, have it delivered and ultimately split the commission or pay the appropriate fee to the dealer that owned the vehicle. The platform would then anticipate the needs of geographic regions and an amazon fresh inventory management style would be implemented where an inventory of cars could be sent to a storage area awaiting to be dispatched to dealers that generate leads in the regions.

How we built it

We built it using react 360 from the ground up. We used Google Cloud Platform and used the database set that was provided by by 360.agency.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into time challenges, the competition was only held for a little less than 8 hours so the main issue was getting everything we wanted to accomplish done.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of having a functional exchange platform demo, the speed and rapidity was the biggest factor here.

What we learned

We learned more about the car dealership management system platforms and examined the needs of dealerships. We also rapid prototyped many ideas and learned to optimize our workflow in that sense. This was a technical challenge that was greatly appreciated.

What's next for IMX 360 (Inventory Management Exchange 360)

What is next is this idea can be implemented into existing DMS systems and the idea can be developed to become an integral part of the way dealers do business!
