About the Project
๐ฟ Inspiration
Human-wildlife conflicts can put both communities and wildlife at risk, especially when people living near forest areas receive warnings too late. We were inspired to build a system that connects early alerts, incident reporting, emergency assistance, and compensation tracking in one platform.
Our goal was to create a practical solution that helps communities respond to wildlife encounters earlier while also making the compensation process more transparent and easier to track.
๐ก What We Learned
While developing this project, we learned how to combine web development, artificial intelligence, databases, and real-world problem solving into a single system. We gained experience in designing user-friendly dashboards, managing incident data, implementing alert mechanisms, and structuring compensation records.
We also learned that solving a real-world problem requires more than just building a working applicationโit requires understanding the needs of different users, including villagers, forest officers, and administrators.
๐ ๏ธ How We Built It
We designed the system as a centralized platform with different modules:
- Early Alert System โ Provides timely warnings when potential wildlife activity is detected.
- Incident Reporting โ Allows users to report wildlife encounters and incidents with relevant details.
- Emergency SOS โ Provides a quick way for users to request emergency assistance.
- Compensation Tracking โ Allows affected users to submit compensation claims and track their status.
- Officer Dashboard โ Helps forest officials review incidents, alerts, and compensation requests.
- Admin Module โ Supports centralized management of users, reports, and system information.
The system follows a role-based approach so that each user receives the features and information relevant to their responsibilities.
๐ง Challenges We Faced
One of our major challenges was designing a system that could be useful in real-world situations while keeping the interface simple enough for users with different levels of technical experience.
We also faced challenges in planning the early-alert workflow, organizing incident and compensation data, and connecting multiple modules into one consistent system. Another challenge was balancing automation with human verification, especially for situations where incorrect alerts could create unnecessary panic.
๐ Our Vision
Our project aims to contribute toward safer coexistence between people and wildlife. By combining early warnings, incident management, emergency communication, and transparent compensation tracking, we envision a platform that can support communities and authorities in managing human-wildlife conflicts more effectively.
