Commute time consumes a huge part of life. People should often live nearer their workplace, but finding a suitable apartment is not easy. Rentals are usually searched by entering a target area, which limits the found listings.

What it does

Homer asks for your workplace address and computes a time value and price of your commute to the rental price. The results are placed on a map for convenient browsing. The daily commutes are computed for walking, bike, own car and Uber. (When factoring in all the costs of owning a car, Uber is very competitive.)

How I built it

With sweat and blood. Great teamwork during the whole Junction hackathon.

Challenges I ran into

OSM consumes a lot of memory and CPU. Azure helped a lot!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Idea, graphics, simplicity.

What I learned

The tech listed above.

What's next for Homer

Open for public and gather real rental listings.
