Inspiration
Commute time consumes a huge part of life. People should often live nearer their workplace, but finding a suitable apartment is not easy. Rentals are usually searched by entering a target area, which limits the found listings.
What it does
Homer asks for your workplace address and computes a time value and price of your commute to the rental price. The results are placed on a map for convenient browsing. The daily commutes are computed for walking, bike, own car and Uber. (When factoring in all the costs of owning a car, Uber is very competitive.)
How I built it
With sweat and blood. Great teamwork during the whole Junction hackathon.
Challenges I ran into
OSM consumes a lot of memory and CPU. Azure helped a lot!
