Inspiration

We saw the difficulties visually impaired people face navigating safely and independently. Existing tools cover either navigation or object detection but not both together, motivating us to create an all-in-one assistive app.

What It Does

"Third Eye" uses AI to detect obstacles and objects via the phone camera, provides voice and vibration alerts, guides users with turn-by-turn navigation, helps find objects, monitors camera health, and includes an emergency SOS alert-all accessible by voice commands.

How We Built It

Using Flutter for cross-platform support, TensorFlow Lite for on-device AI detection, OpenCV for camera and light management, and Google Maps for navigation. Voice recognition and vibration feedback make the app accessible and interactive.

Challenges We Ran Into

Balancing real-time AI performance with battery life, integrating voice assistants smoothly, creating clear vibration alerts, handling variable lighting, and ensuring privacy and user customization.

What's Next

Add depth sensing for better distance estimates, offline navigation, indoor positioning, wearables integration, crowdsourced hazard updates, expanded languages, and real-world testing with users.
