Inspiration
Wildfires in California are getting worse, and current prevention methods, like controlled burns, emit massive CO2 and leave the area dry and vulnerable. Goats eat the problem. Their grazing removes vegetation, reducing fire risk while sequestering carbon and supporting local farmers.
What it does
GoatGrazers is a Goats-as-a-Service (GaaS) platform that will provide goats to organizations that will want to deploys GPS-tracked goats to graze overgrown vegetation anywhere of interest.
Tracks CO2 savings vs. induced burning.
How we built it
Website & Tracking Dashboard with WebSim - Visualizing wildfire risk, grazing coverage, and CO2 impact. CO2 Savings Model - Calculating how much CO2 GoatGrazers prevents vs. traditional methods.
Expanding Beyond Wildfires
We started with fire prevention, but quickly realized GoatGrazers could have massive implications in agriculture, fashion, and carbon offset programs. The challenge was refining our core focus while keeping future scalability in mind.
What we learned
The ideas for our project turned into a bigger vision: sponsoring goats and potentially changing the culture in Cali. Know where your goat products come from.
What's next for Grazing Goat
We started with preventing wildfires, but GoatGrazers isn’t just about renting out goats to wildfire organizations. It can be the next big thing in California. Fashion, food, lifestyle. Imagine knowing exactly where your cashmere sweater, milk, or cheese is coming from and being assured that it’s sustainably sourced.
Beyond wildfires, the future implications are great. Eco-friendly companies will want to be sponsored by grazing goats, making sustainability both traceable and marketable.
