Inspiration

Sustainability is a growing concern, and we wanted to create an interactive way for individuals and organizations to assess the environmental impact of their construction plans. By leveraging AI and real-time data, we aim to help users make informed decisions about their projects, reducing their carbon footprint and promoting eco-friendly development. Plus, we wanted to make sustainability cool and relatable for Gen-Z—because saving the planet should boost your aura, not just your conscience.

What it does

Our platform allows users to drop a pin on a map, generating a sustainability score based on various environmental, economic, and social factors. Users can then input their construction plans in a text box, detailing what they want to build at that location. Using an LLM (Gemini), the system analyzes the impact of the proposed project and updates the sustainability score in real time, providing recommendations for improvement. Your aura points increase when you make eco-friendly choices—because being green is the ultimate flex.

How we built it

We built the platform using:

  • Frontend: Next.js with interactive map integration
  • Backend: Flask to handle API requests
  • AI Integration: Gemini AI for processing user input and dynamically updating the sustainability score
  • Data Sources: AQI, carbon footprint metrics, and other environmental factors
  • Real-time Updates: WebSockets for seamless user experience

Challenges we ran into

  • Data Accuracy: Ensuring reliable environmental impact predictions required integrating multiple datasets.
  • AI Fine-tuning: Crafting effective prompts and refining responses for meaningful sustainability assessments.
  • Real-time Processing: Optimizing API calls to keep response times fast while maintaining accuracy.
  • Making Sustainability Trendy: Finding a way to make eco-consciousness appealing to Gen-Z without sounding too preachy.
