Inspiration
Public-health data is most useful when people can explore it without working through dense tables.
What it does
Global Flu Tracker presents flu information through an interactive, location-based map. Users can search for places and examine geographic patterns through a clear web interface.
How it was built
The project used JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Leaflet.js, OpenStreetMap, and Nominatim to combine geocoding, mapping, and data visualization.
Accomplishments
Global Flu Tracker placed second at HackAppleton.
What I learned
I learned how to connect geocoding and mapping tools into a usable data interface and how to work through a hackathon build under a deadline.
