Inspiration
We were inspired by how creating a ranking that can help Germany transition towards clean energies faster and more efficiently.
What it does
It calculates the amount of solar energy that can be produced in a specific building.
How we built it
Using Geospatial analysis of Digital surface model and OSM building data.
Challenges we ran into
Computing power, it took many hours to process the data sets, our laptops were not strong enough as well as we struggled with the storage we had available to host all the data. We decided to focus only on Saxony otherwise it would not have been possible to process it on time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were proud of finally making it work! It was very stressful until the last minute when we managed to make it work.
What we learned how to
What's next for Genistat_Heliohack
We would like to deepen the research and development, search for mentors and obtain feedback from potential partners about the viability of the project. We would for sure love to take part in the opportunities that the Munich ecosystem offers to AI projects, such as student initiatives like TUM.AI, opportunities as in AI+MUNICH, and apply to incubator programs in UnternehmerTUM.
