Inspiration
Have you ever been in a situation where you’re with a group of people and you cannot decide what to eat? This is a very common situation because there are too many options to select from.It is also difficult for everyone to reach an agreement since different people have different preferences. Moreover, dietary restrictions play a part in this decision-making process.
A decision is usually made by a more dominant leader in the group by filtering away unpopular food options. Though efficient, this might be difficult for people who dare not voice out. Some recommendations may be overshadowed by others. If someone disagrees, the leader will have to start the filtering process again.
This process of deciding and coming into an agreement is time consuming and challenging, especially in a big group. To save our precious time, technology can be utilized. Therefore, our team has decided to come up with a bot to tackle this challenge.
What it does
This Bot helps to speed on the decision-making by incorporating various filters to fit the diet of the user's choice by searching for real-time food places or restaurants
How we built it
We built it mainly using Python, and Google APIs
Challenges we ran into
Some food places that are not listed within google cannot be listed with the bot
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we have met our objective for our bot, and being the one of a kind in the market.
What we learned
We learned how to play around with the limitations of the telegram bot. As telegram APIs is constantly improving a lot of ideas that can be implemented on apps or web platform cannot be implemented on telegram bot yet.
What's next for Food for Thought
We will try to push this bot as a free to use service for the people and we are open to collaborations with organizations to implement or push this bot to a greater height
