Inspiration

We have all struggled at times to study with our phones so easily accessible. This is also an issue we know we are not alone in. We wanted to make an app that would use the same features which makes other apps addicting to make people want to study.

What it does

Essentially people gain in app currency for focused study time. This means they turned the focus mode on which prevents notifications and requires they stay on task for the full duration (with some emergency exceptions). They can then use this currency to keep their pets happy, and the happier the cats, the more interesting they will be. Additionally, we provide some statistics on user performance so they can see if they are meeting study goals. We also have a to do list to help people stay on track and get better at estimating the time to complete tasks.

How we built it

We went through the design process for this app, producing a detailed figma to demonstrate most of the features of our app.

Challenges we ran into

We initially tried to make an app from the figma, but our lack of app development experience meant we would not have the time to produce anything even resembling the app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

For a majority of us, this was our first adventure into proper design, and the use of Figma for more than basic features. Additionally, we went through a pretty thorough design process, even if we couldn't get every feature we wanted into the figma.

What we learned

We learned more about Figma, and the value of consulting others on design. This was also a heavily collaborative effort, and we all improved our communication as a result.

What's next for Focus

More user testing is in order, and extending certain features (like apps). Additionally, taking the figma and converting it into an actual app.
