Inspiration

While UC Davis has a diverse amount of students with different passions and hobbies, it can be difficult to find others with shared interests. This issue mixed in with COVID makes it even more challenging to meet and connect with other students. Our inspiration for Fluffle, came about because we want to meet more students that share our interests.

What it does

The platform connects students with other students that share similar interests and hobbies. The main purpose is for students to build a community and overcome imposter syndrome.

How we built it

We built Fluffle using HTML, CSS, and Adobe Illustrator.

Challenges we ran into

A challenge we ran into was biting off more than we chew, specifically in what framework we wanted to use. We wanted to challenge ourselves and use React Native which we didn’t have much experience in. However, for the sake of the project, we switched over to HTML and CSS. We favored functionality.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our group had never coded with more than one person before. A huge accomplishment for all of us was submitting a project we had all collaborated on.

What we learned

What we learned for our next hackathon is to come in with a project in mind. Technical wise, our team learned how to link HTML and CSS webpages to create a functional web app.

What's next for Fluffle App

Our next move for Fluffle is to spend more time implementing React Native and creating a stronger front end and backend design.
