Our FireWatch AI Journey
Inspiration: We wanted to solve the challenge of identifying possible industrial fires and persistent heat sources using satellite data before they become bigger risks.
How We Built It: Our team developed FireWatch AI, a geospatial intelligence platform integrating NASA FIRMS hotspot data, OpenStreetMap industrial facilities, AI/ML analysis, and interactive GIS mapping.
What We Learned: We explored satellite data, geospatial analysis, machine learning, web development, and emergency response workflows.
Challenges: Understanding satellite data, distinguishing industrial heat sources from other hotspots, handling historical data, and developing reliable predictions were our major challenges.
Our Goal: To help authorities identify potential risks earlier and make better-informed decisions through data-driven insights.
