Inspiration
We were inspired by a similar game that was published back in 2016, a lot of people jumped into that game but only those who knew about Pokemons could enjoy that. So this is an app that will expose people to similar kinds of experiences even without any prior knowledge.
What it does
You can basically drop a message at specific geolocation, and anyone else who is around the same location can pick up the dropped message and respond to that message with a comment or likes.
How we built it
We built the frontend using Reactjs with Axios for making Graphql requests to our node backend server. The backend server is built upon Graphql and Postgres.
Challenges we ran into
The time constrain put a limit to our imagination, so we were only able to implement half of the features we planned.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We accomplished a full-stack app that you can drop your messages into in a very short time and anyone else near the message can respond to it.
What we learned
We learnt to connect GraphQL endpoints, and database designing with Postgres.
What's next for Drop It
We are going to make a Mobile App using Flutter and make it accessible through every phone for easier access.
Mostly I see the potential for this to have reviews in front of the restaurant, so people can judge the restaurant just by going near it. Similarly, it can be useful for every other business out there. It can give a boost to genuine business and help people get a better experience.
