🥂 SIPSTREAM – Dark Alcohol Subscription App

🚀 Inspiration

The idea behind DARUPI was inspired by modern hyperlocal delivery services like Zepto and Blinkit. While daily essentials are delivered in minutes, there was a clear gap in fast and curated alcohol delivery—especially for premium spirits and wine lovers in India. We wanted to bridge that gap and build an experience that is as fast, flexible, and consumer-focused as possible.

🛠️ How We Built It

  • Frontend: Built using Vue 2 with Vite for fast performance and modularity.
  • Authentication: Integrated Firebase Auth for both mobile number OTP login and Google login.
  • Database: Used Firebase Firestore to manage user data and orders in real-time.
  • Deployment: Hosted on Netlify for production and Bolt + StackBlitz for rapid prototyping and previews.
  • Location Detection: Auto-detects user's location to calculate delivery zones and taxes (city/state).
  • UI Design: Focused on clean, bold typography and dark-mode aesthetics to emphasize the premium feel.

🧠 What We Learned

  • How to integrate Firebase Auth with multiple providers (mobile + Google)
  • Using environment-based currency/localization switching
  • Managing real-time updates in Firestore
  • Handling plan-based product filtering and enforcement
  • Building a production-ready PWA with StackBlitz + Bolt + Netlify

⚠️ Challenges Faced

  • Dealing with Firebase’s authorized domain restrictions during development
  • Syncing location data with currency display (₹ vs $)
  • Setting limits on selected beverages dynamically based on subscription
  • Fixing price calculation issues in the cart when quantity or plan was changed
  • Debugging order placement flow when subscriptions violated plan limits

✅ Outcome

SIPSTREAM is now a working prototype that brings the convenience of lightning-fast alcohol delivery to users with a premium, localized experience. With the proper licensing and backend fulfillment in place, it could scale as a real-world service.
