Post-Submission Update — From DangDangCatch to PawCatch The product originally submitted as DangDangCatch has now launched internationally as PawCatch. This is more than a name change. It is the same purpose, made instantly understandable across cultures.

WHY — Every walk should create belonging. A dog walk is never just a route from one point to another. It is time with someone we love, a memory being made, and a chance to feel connected to the neighborhood around us. DangDangCatch began in a Korean neighborhood with my dog, Bori, and grew through the real voices of local dog owners. From the beginning, our belief was simple: An ordinary daily walk can become playful progress, a lasting memory, and a meaningful connection.

HOW — We translated the emotion, not just the syllables. In Korean, “댕댕” is a warm and playful nickname for a dog, similar in spirit to “doggo.” Korean users feel that affection immediately. But outside Korea, “DangDang” is simply an unfamiliar sound. A direct transliteration would preserve the pronunciation while losing the feeling. So we translated the intention behind the name: Paw is universal. It represents the companion beside us, the trail left behind, and the beginning of every walk. Catch means capturing a route and a memory, discovering a dog-friendly place, claiming territory through real movement, and catching up with a local community. With Codex, this identity was carried consistently across Android and iOS metadata, notifications, interface copy, and six-language localization, supported by regression tests rather than treated as a cosmetic rename.

WHAT — PawCatch. The Korean experience keeps the affectionate identity of 댕댕캐치, while the international product now introduces itself as PawCatch: a name that communicates the experience at first sight. The product has not lost its Korean roots. It has made those roots understandable to the world. PawCatch is not a replacement for DangDangCatch. It is its global translation. Born in Korea from one dog’s daily walks. Built with a real neighborhood community.

Now ready to help people everywhere turn every walk into territory, memory, and belonging. Catch every walk. Leave every pawprint. Find your pack.
