Update: Iterating, Rebuilding & Learning the Bolt Way
Since launching the first version of youD8.me, I’ve rebuilt the app twice — and each time I learned something huge:
One big prompt = one big mess. I initially tried to cram everything into one giant Bolt prompt (AI + reminders + NFTs + calendar + UI). That blew up the code size and slowed things down.
The better approach: prompt piece-by-piece, feature-by-feature. It keeps the codebase clean, fast, and easier to manage.
What’s New
New Visual Layout: Inspired by Instagram — full-screen memory cards, cleaner bottom nav, large photos, and minimal text. Designed for emotions first. D8 Messenger: 1:1 and group chats for relationship check-ins + “Let’s D8!” invites. AI Coach: Lives in the bottom nav now. Always ready to help you reconnect or reflect. Calendar Mode: See upcoming D8 reminders, birthdays, and anniversaries in one swipe. NFT Minting: Optional, opt-in, and seamless. Free users can pay per mint, and premium users get 5 per month. All on Algorand with automatic wallets.
What I Learned
- You must build modularly in Bolt. Keep prompts small and focused.
- Rebuilding isn’t failure — it’s refinement.
- Memory is emotional UX. If it doesn’t feel good to use, it’s not worth launching.
