💡 Inspiration

I built youD8.me to learn by loving — and to love learning.

This was my birthday gift to myself on June 1st: not a cake, not a gadget, but a full-on app launch powered by AI, emotion, and Bolt.new.

I’m a solo founder launching an AI startup, and I wanted a fun, fast way to level up on no-code tools, product development, and integrations. So I gave myself one week, a purple thinking cap, and a challenge: Can I build something real, emotional, and beautiful — with AI — that people will actually use?

In a world obsessed with fleeting digital connections, we realized something profound: true connection isn't about how many people you know, but how deeply you remember the ones who matter. youD8.me was born from the desire to help people log, reflect on, and nurture their most meaningful relationships – not just romantic ones, but family, friends, colleagues, and even virtual connections. It's a "remembering app," designed to turn everyday interactions into cherished memories and foster authentic human connection.

🚀 What it Does

youD8.me is your personal relationship memory book, powered by AI.

• Log D8s: Easily capture moments with anyone – from a coffee date with a friend (date) to a project milestone with a colleague (work), or a family gathering (fam). Each "D8" (pronounced "date") records who, what, when, and how it felt.
• AI D8 Coach: Our intelligent AI assistant provides personalized insights and suggestions to help you nurture your relationships. It can draft thoughtful messages, suggest gift ideas, and even remind you when it's time to check in, all based on your logged memories. (Premium Feature)
• Memory Cards: Turn your favorite D8s into beautiful, shareable digital "polaroid" cards, perfect for social media or sending directly to friends.
• Public Feed: Discover inspiring memories shared by other users (with their consent), fostering a sense of global connection and shared humanity.
• Calendar View: Visualize your relationship journey over time, seeing patterns and milestones at a glance.
• D8 Messenger: Connect directly with your people within the app, share memories, and plan future D8s. (Premium Feature)

🛠️ How We Built It

youD8.me is a full-stack web application built with a modern, scalable, and secure tech stack:

• Bolt.new: Our development platform, enabling rapid prototyping and deployment of the entire full-stack application.
• React & TypeScript: For a robust and dynamic user interface.
• Tailwind CSS & shadcn/ui: For a beautiful, mobile-first, and responsive design.
• Supabase: Our comprehensive backend solution, providing:
  • Authentication: Secure user login and management.
  • PostgreSQL Database: Storing all D8 entries, user profiles, reminders, and chat data with Row-Level Security (RLS) for privacy.
  • Storage: Securely hosting user-uploaded images and audio.
  • Edge Functions: Powering our AI D8 Coach and Stripe payment processing, ensuring low latency and secure API calls.
• Anthropic (Claude 3 Sonnet): The core of our AI D8 Coach, providing empathetic and context-aware relationship insights.
• Stripe: For seamless and secure subscription management and payment processing.
• date-fns: For robust date and time manipulation.
• html2canvas: To enable the creation of shareable Memory Cards.
• react-qr-code: For easy profile sharing via QR codes.

🚧 Challenges We Ran Into

• AI Context Management: Ensuring the AI D8 Coach had enough context from user memories without exceeding token limits or compromising privacy was a delicate balance. We leveraged Supabase Edge Functions to securely fetch relevant D8s and construct dynamic prompts.
• Real-time Sync: Implementing the chat feature required careful consideration of real-time data synchronization and efficient message handling within Supabase.
• Seamless Monetization: Integrating Stripe for subscriptions and managing user premium status across the application required robust webhook handling and database updates.

• Intuitive UX: We've created a clean, emotionally resonant user interface that makes logging memories and interacting with AI feel natural and delightful.
• Powerful AI Integration: The D8 Coach genuinely provides helpful, personalized advice, transforming raw data into actionable relationship insights.

• Full NFT Integration: Implement the Algorand wallet and NFT minting functionality, allowing users to truly own their most cherished memories as digital keepsakes.
• Enhanced Chat Features: Expand the D8 Messenger with group D8 experiences, event planning, and "Chain D8" referral logic to foster more collaborative memory-making.
• Advanced AI Insights: Introduce deeper sentiment analysis, relationship pattern recognition, and proactive suggestions from the AI Coach.
• Mobile App Development: Leverage RevenueCat for in-app purchases and a seamless experience on iOS and Android.
