THEME - SOCIAL GOOD
Inspiration
In the shadows of our society, 85 women face sexual assault every single day in India. 96,000 children vanish without a trace each year. Behind these stark numbers are countless untold stories of fear, vulnerability, and lost potential. We were haunted by these stories, driven by a simple yet powerful question: What if technology could be a shield?
What it does
Our tiny button is more than a device—it's a digital guardian. With a single press, it:
- Instantly tracks and shares precise GPS location
- Alerts trusted contacts within seconds
- Creates a potential lifeline during moments of vulnerability
- Transforms fear into an actionable, immediate response
How we built it
Using accessible technology—an Arduino UNO, NEO 6M GPS Module, and SIM900A GSM Module—we crafted a solution that turns complexity into simplicity. We combined affordable components to create a powerful, user-friendly safety device that puts protection directly in the hands of those who need it most.
Every innovation faces resistance. We battled:
- Miniaturization: Designing a compact, portable device
- Cost Constraints: Keeping the solution affordable for widespread adoption
- Reliability: Ensuring consistent GPS and GSM module performance
We transformed a concept into a beacon of hope. Our prototype proves that:
- Personal safety technology can be accessible
- Community protection can be just a button press away
- Technology, when designed with empathy, can be a powerful force for social change
Beyond technical skills, we discovered the true power of innovation:
Empathy drives the most meaningful technologies Simple solutions can address complex social challenges Every line of code, every circuit can be a potential lifesaver
Our journey has just begun. We envision:
- Expanding our network of emergency responders
- Developing more sophisticated location tracking
- Creating a scalable, adaptable safety ecosystem
- Partnering with organizations committed to women and children's safety and nearby Police stations alerting them with location message for faster reach.
Our button isn't just a device—it's a movement, a promise that no one walks alone.
