Inspiration

My locality has various small scale businesses, and due to the Covid19 lockdown, most of them are going bankrupt. Looking at all the closed shops, i realized there must be a way to keep them running, hence i came up with the idea to help them sell goods during this lock down.

What it does

www.Covid19Delivery.in is a website i built that connects Sellers-Delivery persons-Buyers in different localities, this chain ensures the fulfillment of demand and supply

How I built it

I know html and php, and also have experience with adobe illustrator, hence to shape my idea into a reality i set down to build a simple website. Using available tools, i made a draft, then used illustrator for the design of the website, and then finally i registered a domain name too!

Challenges I ran into

One of the biggest challenged i face was getting a proper relevant domain name for the website since majority of the companies have stopped giving out any domain names related to the corona virus, finally i found one which will support the idea and be relevant too.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I showed the website to my neighbors who run a small shop in the locality, and they felt really thankful that during this time, when everyone is focused on healthcare workers and hospitals, there is someone thinking about preventing small scale businesses from going into bankruptcy and also helping the delivery persons come out of unemployment.

What I learned

During this journey to code for good i learnt a great deal of things. Apart from the technical aspect that helped me gain knowledge about web development and web hosting, i also learnt that while there are professions like doctors/medical staff that directly help people during such pandemics, a computer science student with a laptop and an internet connection can make a difference too.

I have sent the website link and plan to all of my friends/relatives/contacts who would benefit with Covid19delivery.in and have also wrote emails to my local govt authorities to help me reach more people so that sellers can sell items, delivery personnel can deliver items, and customers can safely order items from home
