Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots
What it does
This web app allows for players to practice on their own or take on online opponents in a face-paced boxing game that uses their phone's gyro to simulate bobbing, dodging, and weaving around their opponent's jabs and hooks.
How we built it
We built our app using hand-drawn and vectorized sprites and environments, Godot and Web Assembly for functionality, and hosting through Vercel.
Challenges we ran into
Our robot sprites were created in greyscale to allow for custom color overlaying; however, this caused some lag to the game we had to troubleshoot.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The hand-drawn elements, the fast-past and infinitely replayable gameplay, and the retro feel brought into the modern age.
What we learned
How to overlay assets in a way that simulates smooth animations, how to describe and create audio elements for proper feedback, how to consider a seamless user experience in building a web app.
What's next for Clanker Clash
Making it an application rather than a web app to increase performance.
