Inspiration

My own experiences with volunteering in the community drove my path in developing this product. I frequently found myself managing the challenges of community service planning and collaboration. The research and outreach problems I faced were time-consuming and, at times, daunting. This program was created to streamline these procedures, making cooperation and idea exchange more efficient and successful. Furthermore, my insights into the psychological components of intrinsic motivation were crucial in the addition of a monitoring mechanism in the app. The objective was not just to make planning easier, but also to excite and motivate users through visible progress and accomplishments.

What it does

CivicPulse is designed to bring individuals together who share a passion for community engagement and impact. Here's how it works:

Inital Setup

Upon first opening the app, users are prompted to enter their name and phone number. This information is stored to personalize their experience and to display on their profiles when they create or participate in events.

Choosing Impact Area

Users are presented with three main categories to choose from: Environmental, Educational, and Economical. The selection is based on the user's preferred area of impact or interest.

Idea Generating and Sharing

After selecting a category, users are directed to a screen where they can input their ideas for community service projects. These ideas are then added to the volunteering section of the app.

Connecting with Community

Users can browse through various community service ideas posted by others. The app allows filtering and searching for ideas across different categories.

Event Organization

Scheduling and Organizing: Upon selecting an idea, users can add other people to the event. They can organize and schedule the event, collaborating with other participants.

Tracker and Motivation

The tracker showcases the user's involvement in different categories. Icons for each category grow and evolve based on the user's level of participation. This feature is designed to motivate users by visually displaying their community impact.

CivicPulse is more than just an app; it's a tool for fostering community connection and facilitating impactful change. Whether you're initiating a project or joining an existing one, CivicPulse makes it easy to collaborate and make a difference in the areas you care about most.

How we built it

I picked Figma as my primary tool because its intuitive design skills enabled me to bring my concept to reality. The difficulty, however, was in the specifics. A delicate balance was necessary while designing an interface that effortlessly merged ideas, volunteer opportunities, and a monitoring system. It was critical that the app not only functioned properly but also delivered a pleasant user experience. Several revisions were required to refine the app's interface and interaction flow. I carefully cobbled together the different components while navigating Figma's capabilities, ensuring that each aspect corresponded with the app's primary aims.

Challenges we ran into

The most difficult part was the design and layout process. It was a hard undertaking to strike the proper balance between looks and usefulness. The app's UI has to be not simply visually stunning but also straightforward and simple to use. Another challenge was figuring out how to successfully connect the essential components - ideas, volunteering, and tracking. This necessitated a thorough knowledge of the user's journey, anticipating their demands, and delivering both practical and imaginative solutions.

What's next for CivicPulse

We want to bring CivicPulse to life in the future by creating code with frameworks like Flutter or React. This will turn our concepts into a practical application that we can test and modify further. We want to dramatically improve the user experience, concentrating on increasing the tracker's visual depiction of progress and streamlining the organization structure for more easy and efficient user interface. These enhancements will make CivicPulse not only more engaging, but also more successful in fostering community cooperation and impact.
