Inspiration

There are a lot of vehicles on the road, and they emit a lot of carbon, which is bad for the environment. This prompted us to create an app that aids in the tracking and reduction of carbon emissions, as well as the reduction of environmental effects.

What it does

This app keeps track of your CO2 emissions as you travel and awards you with coins if you don't exceed a certain level. The criterion is currently set based on the average distance traveled by a person in India.

How we built it

We built the app with flutter and utilized Firebase as the database.

Challenges we ran into

Calculating a user's distance traveled was difficult since we didn't use Google's API, which demands credit card information, which none of us possessed. Another issue we faced was determining the user's precise location.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We designed a user interface that we hadn't considered before, as well as an accurate location tracker. Through the app, we were able to convey the main concept. Within 30 hours, we were able to create a working app. We also learned a new framework and met a fantastic group of people.

What we learned

We learned how to work as part of a group. Flutter Framework and Dart are two new technologies we picked up. In addition, We learned how to use Firebase as a backend.

What's next for Carbon Coins

  • We'll need various algorithms for each user depending on the vehicle they drive.
  • We need to improve the emission log so that the user can see their monthly CO2 emissions.
  • Adding a Co2 emission calculator.
  • We'll need to keep the software running in the background to keep it tracking.
  • Improve the UI.
