TEAM 32
Inspiration
Wolfenstien 3D and DOOM style renderers. Also the beauty inherent in a traditional bowling alley. We wanted to bring that to life
What it does
All graphics are rendered using raycasting techniques and updating and drawing an single pixel array. The engine features: -3D immersion -state of the art texture work -sprite rendering -physics based collision -sound effects for an extra cherry on top All to make you FEEL like you are really bowling
How we built it
In good ol' pure C with SDL. The render is inspired by Wolfenstien 3d.
Challenges we ran into
Software rendering is very hard and we had a lot of trouble getting the project rolling. What proved the biggest challenge was not sprites, or physics collision, or advanced sound effect system but instead bringing atmosphere to the game and really doing our source material justice.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Everything and the easter eggs
What we learned
- Raycasting
- Conservation of velocity after collision of two given object
- Momentum?
- Seg faults
- The depths of our souls
