Inspiration

We love classic mobile runners but wanted more player freedom, not fixed paths. Horizon Worlds Mobile let us create a chase where you choose your escape route. We wanted to have a modern take on the design so we went with an AI security robot and graphics card collectibles to tie the theme into modern tech culture.

What it does

Bot Pursuit is a high-energy mobile runner where an AI security robot is always on your heels. Swipe to turn, jump, or slide as you choose your path, dodge hazards, and grab graphics cards for power-ups and revives. Fast, chaotic, competitive, and endlessly replayable.

How we built it

We built Bot Pursuit entirely in Horizon Worlds using mobile-first design, custom Type Script for movement and AI behavior, and optimized assets for speed. We focused on smooth swipes, clean visuals, and lightweight logic to keep runs fast and responsive.

Challenges we ran into

Our biggest challenge was working around Horizon Worlds Mobile’s limitations to make swipe gestures, auto-run, and animations all work together smoothly. Since we used player locomotion instead of a model, we had to create custom logic to trigger movement and animations at the right time. Getting inputs to register consistently while the player auto-ran took a lot of trial, error, and innovation. Finding a solution that felt responsive and fun was the hardest part of the project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud that we turned a simple chase idea into a smooth, polished mobile runner in such a short time frame. We built responsive swipe controls, dynamic hallways, and an AI bot that really feels like it’s after you. We’re also proud of how well we worked together. After knowing each other for years, finally building something great as a team made the project even more meaningful.

What we learned

We learned how to design for mobile first, balancing fast gameplay with smooth performance inside Horizon Worlds. We also learned the value of strong teamwork! Communicating clearly, dividing tasks, and combining our strengths made the whole process a whole lot faster and way more fun.

What's next for Bot Pursuit

Next, we want to expand the game with new environments, smarter AI behavior, and more power-ups that change how each run feels. We also plan to polish leaderboards, add cosmetic rewards, and introduce special limited-time events. Our goal is to keep Bot Pursuit growing into a replayable, community-driven experience on Horizon Worlds Mobile.

I created all of the core mechanics, the full UI system, and every animation interaction the game relies on. Because Horizon Worlds Mobile doesn’t naturally support the kind of controls we wanted, I had to engineer a custom input pipeline from scratch, one that detects swipes, manages autorun behavior, and triggers animations with frame-accurate timing. Instead of using a character model, we relied on the player’s locomotion, which meant none of the usual animation tools applied. I had to invent new ways to sync movement and animation states while keeping everything responsive on mobile.
