Beyond the Classroom

Inspiration

In today’s times we are seeing a gradual shift to online education given its flexibility and wide availability. People are also getting their certifications online via different education platforms. But there's an important gap that online education lacked of, which is the interactive learning with other people (ex: classmates). This lack of social interaction can lead to feelings of isolation and inability to do collaboration and discussion.

What it does

Beyond the Classroom is an online learning platform that allows you to connect and learn directly from best mentors and industry experts from any area of your interest. Unlike other online education platform (Udemy, Coursera and EdX), we try to create meaningful and sustained social interactions in online courses, so that students can interact with each other.

Mentors can schedule live-classes in (Zoom/Google Meet) and share it in our platform, students can find and register for those classes easily. Student can also join the community of learners and mentors after the live-classes, this is to encourage further discussions and help student to find their community where they belong. We focus on: Creativity, Communication, Collaboration, and Critical thinking, which are 4 core values in education that we really need to be prepared of.

By interacting with others through live-classes, students can exchange ideas, have further discussions regarding topics they interested in and collaborate. Student can also ask doubts in real time, like they do in an offline class. This is the most critical aspect of learning.

How I built it

I built the prototype using Figma. For visuals, I use both Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator.

Challenges I ran into

Since I attend this hackaton alone, I really need to prepare and do everything fast.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I ship this idea on time.

What I learned

Prioritization of the features in this app, I try to simplify the learning process to make it easier for student to learn and connect with other students.

What's next for Beyond Classroom

Added more categories of topics, or maybe implementing any feedbacks I got from mentors. Hope this idea can be implemented to help kids in rural India get a better education.
