Inspiration

As we all know, winter in New England can be a struggle Walking to and from classes, trudging through the snow, fighting off absurd wind chills When exposed to the elements, our extremities (hands, feet, etc) “feel” the cold most acutely You can bundle up, but those crappy knit gloves you bought from UO out of desperation can only do so much

What it does

These gloves are built out of the best material to protect your hands from the extremeties. It is a two person glove that allows you to quickly warm up the hand of a person with a decreased temperature in the hands from the exposure to the cold.

How I built it

This is more of a concept. The concept was designed based on human experiences. We tested different materials you can find if you were camping such as aluminum foil, cotton t-shirts, wool, and silk fabric. We exposed our subjects' hands to cold temperatures in an ice bath and then immediately wrapped their hands in various materials to see how long it took to warm up. The setup's design was mocked up with illustrator and powerpoint. The actual craft of the glove was not completed at the time of the presentation but is underway.

Challenges I ran into

The conception of this project was the hardest. We all had great ideas but could not refine on one single topic at the start of the project.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The concept is awesome. We created our own experiment and designed a product from that.

What I learned

Cotton based items are the best!

What's next for BEKY: Cold In Love Out

We are going to make the glove!
