We were inspired by our friends' and family members' first-hand experience with COVID-19. Whether they be front-line workers, such as nurses, who have been away from home helping short-staffed hospitals or young students struggling to adjust to online learning, their experiences greatly influenced our work. Completing the book taught us even more ways to protect ourselves from COVID-19. The greatest challenge was re-framing our thinking to create material that can be appealing and consumed by children. We have been wanting to write and illustrate a book for several years now, so we are proud of our accomplishment of finishing our very first one!
