Inspiration

To create a social,interactive,collaborative and engaging platform that allows children to interact with videos and each other instead of just vegetating in front of them as they do presently.

How it works

This will be a subscription based platform that can be an added as a feature in NBC Universal It will provide an immersive experience of the video by allowing active participation in the video using video overlay integration via Leap Motion or any other interactive inputting real time.

This will allow for a shared experience by the participants here friends,that can be invited via platforms such as Facebook,NBC subscribers that have shared their contacts with each other, or any other platform that allows for users to see their friends online e.g. Skype, Meetup, FaceTime.

The features will include an integrated voice recognition that will turn voice to text,thus avoiding interruption of the audio from the video.This will be displayed as a speech bubble on the avatar of the person concerned.

Challenges I ran into

The issues were finding the most appropriate API to use for what we wanted in creating video overlay. Bandwidth limitation. Issues with continuous video mixing. Limited timeframe to implement the vision. Having to use third party video server or creating your own had its limitations.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

WireMax API was use to great effect and we explored other third party API to make the integration possible.

What's next for Augmented Interactive Movies

Adding added features that would allow a learning platform that can be used within as an in-platform feature activated at an extra cost.This would allow parents to use videos as an educational tool. Give incentives and monitor their children progress.

The project is about augmenting real life objects with videos, videos in videos, video overlaying and so on..... to create social, interactive, collaborative and engaging platforms that allows children to interact with the videos.

The platforms will be immersive, engaging that augment contents sharing among peers.

It will allow inclusive learning and shareable communications. For example in classroom enironment, Lecturer could use it to enhance delivery of video content among disable and able peers.

It could be used to treat autsim or aid early learning youth

The sotfware and the canera devices should be able to sense their environment, recognise users, store and load preferences, personal setting, etc... It should remabered last play mode, pause, play and save settings for each engaged users.

Multi-party videos superimpostion with user capture input in realtime, in-game, in-conference or in-entertainment among parties.

Application areas: Schools, Colleges, Homes, Amusement park, social network, playground, nursery and so on......
