Inspiration
A woman’s place is everywhere, and in every space, she has the right to feel safe and welcome. Yet, 64% of women had experienced street-based harassment in the UK. We hope to facilitate a women's community that could use their influence to drive out intolerable behaviors, demand for safety, respect, and inclusion on the streets. Removing the barriers of an unsafe environment can help women to fulfill their potential as an individual.
What it does
AMAZE App aims to empower women to join forces as a community to fight the fear and danger of walking home alone in the dark. Women alone have power, but collectively we have an impact.
How we built it
We created connections based on shared interests and goals. Through the hackathon, we conducted market research, a top-down approach to market sizing, app prototyping, and features development to create a functioning software and revenue-generating business plan.
Challenges we ran into
Despite the challenges of working from different time zones, we ensured smooth execution based on trust and effective communication.
What's next for Amaze
Although we are extremely proud of what our team of four was able to accomplish within the given time constraints, we would love to see Amaze reach greater heights and help out more women across the globe, specifically by:
- Looking into new markets to expand to,
- Have a more detailed UI, and
- Incorporate Google Maps API (or a cheaper alternative), alongside current web-scraped data on the crime rates in locations.
