Smart service finder(workzy)

Inspiration

Finding a reliable local service professional is often harder than it should be. Users may struggle with unclear pricing, limited information, lack of trust, and difficulty comparing different service providers. We were inspired to build Smart Service Finder to create a platform where users can quickly discover, compare, and connect with trusted local professionals based on their specific needs.

What it does

Smart Service Finder is an AI-powered service marketplace that connects customers with local professionals. Users can: Search for required services Discover nearby service providers Compare ratings and profiles Understand service information and pricing Find providers based on location Get AI-powered recommendations Interact with an AI assistant for guidance Securely create and manage accounts The platform can support services such as mehendi artists, decorators, purohits, event services, and other local professionals.

How we built it

We built the platform using a modern full-stack architecture: React / React Native → Node.js + Express → MongoDB Atlas Additional technologies include: Tailwind CSS for the interface JWT & Google OAuth for authentication AI APIs for recommendations and conversational assistance OpenStreetMap + Leaflet for location-based discovery GitHub for version control Vercel / cloud deployment for hosting The basic workflow is: User Requirement → AI Recommendation → Service Discovery → Provider Comparison → Location → Connection/Booking The recommendation system can conceptually evaluate providers using multiple factors: [ Score = w_1R + w_2D + w_3P + w_4A ] where (R) represents ratings, (D) represents distance, (P) represents price suitability, and (A) represents availability. The weights (w_i) can be adjusted according to user preferences.

Challenges we ran into

One of our biggest challenges was creating a trustworthy experience for both customers and service providers. We had to consider: How to recommend relevant providers instead of simply displaying a list How to handle location-based discovery How to present service information clearly How to securely manage user accounts How to integrate AI without making the experience unnecessarily complicated How to connect multiple technologies into one reliable application We addressed these challenges through a modular architecture, secure authentication, location-based services, structured provider information, and AI-powered recommendations.

Accomplishments That We're Proud Of

One of our biggest accomplishments was turning a real-world problem into a working AI-powered service marketplace.

We successfully built a platform that connects customers with local service professionals and combines AI recommendations, location-based discovery, authentication, provider profiles, and an intuitive user experience in one application.

Building Workzy taught us that a successful product requires much more than writing code.

We learned how to:

Build and connect a complete frontend, backend, database, and AI layer
Integrate AI into an actual user workflow
Implement authentication and user management
Work with maps and location-based services
Design recommendation logic around user preferences
Handle real-world data and different service categories
Think about both customer experience and provider experience
Deploy and test a real web application
Turn user problems into scalable product features

Most importantly, we learned how to move from “Can we build it?” to “Does it actually solve a problem?”

What's Next for Smart Service Finder (Workzy)

Workzy is only the beginning. Our next goal is to evolve it from a service-discovery platform into a complete AI-powered local services marketplace.
