Inspiration

Smallholder farmers in regional agricultural hubs face massive crop wastage and exploitative pricing due to fragmented supply chains and a lack of real-time market visibility. Existing enterprise supply chain apps are bloated, expensive, and impractical for rural connectivity. We designed AgriLoom—a mobile-first Progressive Web App (PWA) built specifically to empower local agricultural communities with AI-driven micro-logistics and fair-price transparency.

What It Does

AgriLoom connects rural producers directly with local vendors and freight drivers through four core features:

  1. Dynamic Freight Pooling: Groups small harvest yields from neighboring farms into single, cost-effective transport batches.
  2. Transparent Price Discovery: Aggregates real-time market prices across nearby hubs to eliminate unfair middleman markups.
  3. Offline-First PWA Design: Optimized for low-bandwidth 2G/3G mobile devices with an intuitive, high-accessibility UI.
  4. Local Driver Matching: Automatically pairs consolidated crop pickups with available local drivers to minimize transit delays.

Technical Architecture & UX Design

  • Mobile Web / Frontend: React (PWA) + TailwindCSS engineered for high contrast, touch-friendly navigation, and low data consumption.
  • Data & Spatial Matching: Node.js with PostGIS for spatial route optimization and batch clustering.
  • Forecasting Engine: Lightweight XGBoost model concept predicting weekly regional demand trends.

Implementation Status & Hackathon Reflection

Due to time constraints during this sprint, our team focused heavily on delivering a complete high-fidelity UI/UX prototype, full mobile user flow, and technical architecture specification. While live backend API deployment remains in progress, our interactive mobile design and codebase demonstrate a fully validated end-to-end user journey from crop registration to pickup dispatch.

What's Next for AgriLoom

  • Integration with regional cooperative databases for verified farmer onboarding.
  • USSD/SMS fallback integration for non-smartphone users.
  • Live pilot testing with local agricultural communities.
