Inspiration

Road accidents often leave victims unable to explain what happened, leading to delayed emergency response, insurance disputes, and legal challenges due to the lack of reliable evidence.

What it does

AcciProof is an AI-powered accident detection system that uses smartphone sensors and machine learning to detect road accidents automatically. Once an accident is detected, it records 20–30 seconds of video and audio, captures GPS location and timestamp, securely stores the evidence in the cloud, and instantly alerts emergency contacts.

How we built it

We built AcciProof using a mobile application integrated with smartphone sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, GPS, camera, and microphone). Machine learning analyzes sensor data to distinguish real accidents from normal movement, while cloud storage securely stores encrypted accident evidence.

Challenges we ran into

  • Reducing false accident detection.
  • Capturing evidence instantly without user interaction.
  • Securing sensitive accident data.
  • Integrating multiple phone sensors efficiently.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Automatic AI-based accident detection.
  • Real-time emergency alerts with GPS.
  • Secure cloud storage of accident evidence.
  • User-friendly mobile application prototype.

What we learned

We gained hands-on experience with machine learning, mobile sensors, cloud storage, real-time notifications, and designing solutions for real-world road safety problems.

What's next for AcciProof

  • Blockchain-based evidence verification.
  • Smart vehicle (IoT) integration.
  • AI accident severity prediction.
  • Direct integration with hospitals, police, and insurance companies.
