Inspiration

This was a UI challange. I had 2 days to design an interface for a standard Match-3. I was unhappy with the end result and ended up spending 3 weeks going back and completely redesigning and reimagining what such a game could look and play like.

What it does

It's only a concept, but it's match-3 with a rising/falling water level, variable weather, and a worm that must escape drowning and make its way to the surface.

Challenges I ran into

Balancing the information architecture/hierarchy of all the visual elements on a small mobile screen. Ensuring gameplay was not impeded by asceticism.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I have never created such polished pixel art beforehand. I was really happy with the final results.

What I learned

Better, non-destructive work follows, which supported both vector illustrator elements and photoshop touchups.

What's next for A new take on Match-3

I'm down to partnering up and making this a working game. I think it stands a good chance of standing out in a very competitive market and making some serious money. I have a number of ideas on how to make it freemium without sacrificing game gameplay.

Want to help?

If you have React native skills or can design for the apple platform please get in touch. I have many of the assets ready to go, game play mechanics worked out, and I am able to assist in coding (I am currently learning React.js and node.js)
