Inspiration: We were inspired to create ZüriZap because we realized that traditional FAQ pages are no longer (contemporary) and can be a major bottleneck for users seeking quick and personalized support. The existing system felt outdated and inefficient in the age of instant communication and automation. Perzonalised customer care is the key to the future.

What it Does: ZüriZap acts as a direct bridge between the customer, their insurance policy, and customer success/support ticketing. It streamlines the claims process, offering immediate assistance, and targeted solutions based on the user's policy details. With ZüriZap, customers don't just get answers; they get peace of mind.

How We Built It: We leveraged multiple technologies to build this robust solution:

Backend: Written in Python and deployed using FastAPI Frontend: Developed using React.js and JavaScript Natural Language Processing: Powered by OpenAI Containerization: Docker for environment consistency Cloud Infrastructure: Hosted on Google Cloud Challenges We Ran Into: The primary challenge we faced was that traditional insurance policy structures are not inherently AI-friendly. This required considerable effort in data parsing and structuring to enable seamless interaction between the policy database and the chatbot. Accomplishments That We're Proud Of: We are particularly proud of gaining hands-on experience in building chatbots and coordinating between backend and frontend development. It’s exhilarating to see the pieces come together into a product that could disrupt the way insurance companies interact with their customers.

What We Learned: Project Planning: We learned that front-end and back-end development can, and should, start concurrently to maximize efficiency. Insurance Policy Nuances: Gaining insights into the intricacies of insurance policies was invaluable for building a bot that can handle real-world queries effectively. What's Next for ZüriZap: We are thrilled to share that a software company has expressed interest in ZüriZap. They see the potential for using our chatbot to engage with potential clients who operate under similar legal frameworks. The journey has just begun, and we’re excited to keep improving and expanding ZüriZap.

We are extremely grateful for the opportunity provided by Zurich Insurance to participate in this hackathon. The experience has been enlightening, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. Thank you for helping us turn an idea into a viable product that has real-world applications.
