Inspiration
When it comes to the beloved Peter the Ant Eater, there are UCI students far and wide who will run to grab the collection of assorted stickers of their favorite mascot. So, we decided to make a game in homage to our love for Peter! In this game, UCI students can collect fashion items for Peter the Ant Eater and collect shiny food badges. In addition, you can help Peter live his best life with all the items he could ever want!
What it does
Zot Peter Zot aims to entertain users during their free time like the famous clicker game, Cookie Clicker! It allows users to click on Peter the Anteater and collect ants, which can be traded as cash to get fun exclusives like colorful fashion choices and adorable badges.
How we built it
Zot Peter Zot is a web application that was created through Unity. We primarily used C# to code our game. As for the icons and buttons, we used AutoDesk Sketchbook and Adobe Photoshop.
Challenges we ran into
Being beginner hackers, learning how to use Unity and write in C# was a huge obstacle to get over. However, with attending the Hack workshops, working with mentors, and using other free resources, the project became more doable. Despite the challenges, we definitely had fun creating Zot Peter Zot, and the bond that we had during this hackathon is definitely unforgettable!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Given that Zot Peter Zot was most of our very first project, it is definitely an accomplishment that we're proud of.
What we learned
We definitely learned a lot of stuff in the making of Zot Peter Zot. It was a cool experience learning C# and using Unity to create a game. Also, Figma is an amazing layout editor that definitely helped make this project's vision come to light!
What's next for Zot Peter Zot by FabFour
We, FabFour, plan to enhance our game, Zot Peter Zot, by adding more cool items into it like more clothing options, collectible Petr stickers, more food badges that Peter can eat, even more meme sounds, etc. As for the FabFour, we definitely would be interested in working together in the future!
Special Mention
Big thanks to HackUCI Mentors, especially Arthur and Kenny! We really appreciate all of your guys' help. Thank you for making this Hackathon experience fun and exciting!! :)
