ZotMarket

Inspiration

We were inspired by Facebook marketplace, and wanted to make one here for UCI students.

What it does

Our website displays posts from students advertising items they want to sell to other students.

How we built it

We used React, Javascript, and Vite for the backend, and HTML and CSS for frontend. We also used FIrebase to host the website and store data. In addition, we used Figma to design the initial project layout.

Challenges we ran into

In the beginning, it was really hard to use Github, because of merge conflicts, and setting up Firebase on each of our devies took a vast majority of our time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were very proud to be able to connect a database to our web app through firebase.

What we learned

We learned how to use Firebase to host web apps.

What's next for ZotMarket

First, we'd need add a lot more features, such as user registration and submitting that to our database. We'd also need a lot more for the product listing and user profiles, such as product sell/buy history and notification reviews.
