Inspiration
Wondering which would be faster, the bus or an Uber? Wondering how much more a taxi would cost you than uber? We can answer all of those questions on just one screen.
What it does
Zooom compares Uber, Public Transportation (Port Authority Transit), YellowCab, and Bicycling travel times and costs for your convenience. You can prioritize cost or time depending on how late or leisurely you are. There is also a direct link to the Uber in case that is your preferred mode of transportation.
How I built it
We used Android Studio to make the Android app using Java and made python scripts to parse the data from Uber and Google Maps APIs.
Challenges I ran into
The most challenging was getting the inputs of the app to the python scripts and outputs back to the user.
What's next for Zooom
The app could be further extended to more modes of travel that would be helpful to have side-by-side comparison when in a hurry.
