ZooFriends

Inspiration

After growing up as an animal-obsessed child, I used to wonder what it would be like to talk to my favorite animals and what they would say. ZooFriends enables children to do just that. When they see their parents messaging on their phone, they can feel incredibly included as they can now message their favourite animals.

What it does

Set in a zoo, you can input your favourite animal, such as 'Lion', or even giving it a name like 'Leo the lion'. The AI will then respond, introducing you to the animal and its life. Then, you can begin to type in the chat, asking the animal as many questions as you would like.

How we built it

Using PartyRock.

Challenges we ran into

How the animal can talk in a child-friendly manner, avoiding unnecessary graphic details- curating each animal into a loving creature whilst also making note of the potential dangers of such animal.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Creating a working AI product for children, that isn't overcomplicated and remains child-friendly, whilst also being educational.

What we learned

How to create a child-friendly product that is rooted from a niche interest that all children would enjoy. Also, how to educate and entertain simultaneously, while living in a rapidly-growing technological world.

What's next for ZooFriends

ZooFriends could be implemented into zoo websites to help grow a stronger bond between visitors and the animals, as well as providing a more interactive experience whilst in the zoo. ZooFriends could be tailored for specific zoos, creating almost a digital museum for animals within zoos.
