Inspiration

I was going to go into this doing another Unity Game but I had no idea what kind. I wanted to try something atleast somewhat new and when I heard the prompt "Zoo" for this Hackathon I got inspired. Especially seeing the large giraffe on the shirt's handed out and on the volunteers. I thought "How fun and silly would it be to control a giraffe with it's long neck" so that's what I did.

What it does

It's an Endless 2D runner game where you try to get as high a score as possible and try not to lose all your HP.

How we built it

I built the game in the Unity Engine, I've worked with Unity a lot before but it had been a while so I had to relearn some things while working with it. All of the assets including sprites were also made by me on Ipad and tablet.

Challenges we ran into

Like I said, I had to re-learn how to do a lot of things in Unity. I also had a lot of issues with the player controls at the start.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm really proud of how the Giraffe controls turned out especially with the neck. It's relatively simple but I believe there's some potential for some fun game play here. I also learned more about Hinge Colliders in Unity due to the nature of this project which was something I didn't even want to touch in the past.

What we learned

What's next for Zoo Run

I had a lot of fun making this game, and just as much fun playtesting. So I want to potentially flesh it out more into something more polished with more content
