ZoneBox is a hub for people interested in a restricted geographic area (not necessarily in their physical proximity), whether for work or leasure. Natural examples range from conference venues and schools through city blocks and university campuses to counties and popular tourist destinations. Using ZoneBox, anyone can draw a "zone", a bounded region on the map, and instantly tie it to real time group chat, a shared file folder and discussion area, and a public web site. All zones are publicly visible, but access can be restricted by password. The idea is to combine proximity and discoverability, the big selling points of "geo chats", with commonality of interests, the big draw of traditional online fora. A look at the map is enough to tell which "zones" exist around your area (overlapping zones are fine), and basic information about their scope can be obtained by clicking them. If none matches your interests, create your own.
